Patient survey rating for home health agencies
The home health agency patient survey star rating uses a 5-star scale to make it easier for you to compare home health agencies. More stars mean better quality care. The star ratings come from the patient experience of care survey, also called the Home Health Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HHCAHPS) survey.
The survey:
- Collects feedback from current or recently discharged home health agency patients (or their family or friends) about their experiences with a home health agency
- Is the first national standard for collecting information on home health agency patient experiences that allows for valid comparisons between home health agencies
- Has a core set of questions
- Allows home health agencies to add their own customized questions to the survey to support internal customer service and quality-related activities
Use the patient survey star rating along with other quality information when making decisions about choosing a home health agency. A 1-star rating doesn't mean that you'll get poor care from a home health agency. It means that home health agencies that got 2 or more stars performed better on this particular measure of patient experience of care. If a home health agency doesn't have a summary star rating, it means that the home health agency didn't have enough surveys to have star ratings calculated in a meaningful way. It doesn't mean that there is something wrong with the home health agency.
