Procedures

Procedure information shows how often this clinician performed the medical procedure(s) in the last 12 months for patients with Medicare. These are based on the number of times a clinician billed the medical procedure(s) to Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage.

Note: This information may not reflect all procedure types, or the total number of procedures performed by this clinician. These aren't the only indicators of quality of care.

Percentiles compare a clinician to their peers who perform the same procedure based on the number of procedures performed in the last 12 months for patients with Medicare. Higher percentiles mean this clinician performed more procedures compared to other clinicians who also performed this procedure.

Medicare procedures performed in the last 12 months

This page includes procedures that this clinician performed for patients with Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage in the last 12 months. This clinician may also perform more types of procedures within Medicare and may perform procedures for patients with other types of health insurance, like commercial insurance plans not shown here.

A procedure that screens for colorectal cancer and polyps (small clumps of cells that form on the lining of the colon) by using a thin tube attached to a small camera (colonoscope) to look inside the rectum and the entire colon. Careful examination of the entire colon is essential for colorectal cancer prevention and decreasing cancer deaths. Clinicians may also perform a colonoscopy to treat issues or to identify causes of abdominal pain, rectal bleeding, chronic diarrhea, or other intestinal problems.
A surgical procedure that repairs a hernia (tissue that bulges through a weak spot in the abdominal wall) located in the groin by tying off the bulging tissue or removing it through a long cut near the stomach area. Patients may require surgery for a hernia if it is causing pain or if parts of the intestines or abdominal tissue become trapped in the sac of the hernia.
A procedure using a thin tube attached to a light and small camera (endoscope) and other tools to look inside the esophagus, stomach, and first part of the small intestine (duodenum). Clinicians perform this procedure to determine causes of symptoms such as heartburn, bleeding, vomiting, inflammation, abdominal pain, and difficulty swallowing. Clinicians may also perform an upper endoscopy to remove tumors, gallstones, or small clumps of cells (polyps) or to diagnose gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), other diseases, or cancer.
A surgical procedure to remove melanoma (skin cancer) from the body by cutting out the tumor and a border of surrounding healthy skin. Clinicians may also use a skin graft (transfer skin from another part of the body) to help the skin heal. Clinicians perform this procedure to stop cancer from spreading and to make sure no cancer remains in the body.
