Upper gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy for acid reflux

A procedure using a thin tube attached to a light and small camera (endoscope) and other tools to look inside the esophagus, stomach, and first part of the small intestine (duodenum). Clinicians perform this procedure to determine causes of symptoms such as heartburn, bleeding, vomiting, inflammation, abdominal pain, and difficulty swallowing.
